Symwave’s 1394b Physical Layer Device (PHY) technology is a product of more than 100 years of combined experience in high performance analog/mixed signal semiconductor and system design. Since its inception in 2004, Symwave has been actively involved in the 1394 Trade Association and led the development of the S1600 (1.6Gbps) and S3200 (3.2Gbps) IC specifications.

The FirePHY SW3080 is a 3-port 1394b S800 device that features an integrated oscillator and industry-leading clock jitter performance. Critical PHY parameters such as signal integrity, data throughput, ESD and EMI performance are all dramatically improved over existing products in the market. The FirePHY SW3080 comes in a small 64-pin QFP package, requires fewer external components and requires less PCB area which enables customers to produce the industry’s most cost-effective 1394b solution.

The SW3080 is targeted at 1394b (FireWire 800) HDD storage devices, hubs, repeaters and flash readers. It is also ideally suited for PC & Mac motherboards, OHCI add-in cards and ExpressCards.
